The Okaloosa County School Board approved Nicole McMahon as the Budgeting Specialist and Gary Massey as the ESOL Specialist at the September 26, 2022, School Board meeting.

Nicole McMahon - Budgeting Specialist

Nicole McMahon is an Accountant in the Budgeting department. She has worked for Okaloosa County School District for a little over a year. Prior to working for the school district, Nicole was the Accountant for the City of Oak Grove in Kentucky. During her 5 years with the City, she managed all human resource functions and maintained and reconciled a 6-million-dollar budget. She grew up in Fort Walton Beach, attending Elliott Point Element School, Meigs Middle School, and Choctawhatchee High School. She received her bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Cameron University, in 2011. She is currently working towards her master’s degree in Accounting. When she is not at work she enjoys spending time with her family, kayaking, and playing with her dogs.

Gary Massey - ESOL Specialist

Gary Massey has lived in Northwest Florida since 1985 when he moved here with his parents from Michigan.  He graduated from Fort Walton Beach High School, Okaloosa Walton Community College (now Northwest Florida State College), and the University of West Florida with a Masters in Educational Leadership. Massey taught 4th and 5 grades (English Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies) for eight years at both Longwood Elementary School and Plew Elementary School. He was selected Teacher of the Year in 2007 while at Plew Elementary School. Massey's first administrative position was as the Assistant Principal in a split position at Ruckel Middle School and Destin Elementary School for less than a year. He has served as the principal of Bruner Middle School, Shoal River Middle School, Mary Esther Elementary, and Bob Sikes Elementary - spanning over 15 years in administration.

Massey and his wife, Dawn, have been married for over 25 years and have two amazing boys, James, 25, and Justin, 22. "It is my honor to take this specialist position to support our schools and students in the best school district in Florida," stated Massey.
