The Okaloosa County School District (OCSD) opened its new Employee Health Clinic at Okaloosa Technical College in Fort Walton Beach. The ribbon-cutting ceremony on April 2 welcomed district leaders and community partners to mark the clinic's launch. In partnership with Marathon Health, the clinic offers employees and their dependents enrolled in the district’s health plan free medical services and no-cost prescriptions. The facility assigns a dedicated healthcare provider and schedules appointments that align with the school district's schedule. Employees receive preventive screenings, illness treatment, chronic condition support, and prescription services at no additional cost, thus investing in a healthier workforce and a stronger future.
“This clinic represents an important step forward in how we support our employees,” said Superintendent Marcus Chambers. “By removing barriers like cost and access, we are making it easier for our staff to prioritize their health, something that directly impacts their ability to support our students each day.”
The clinic is part of the district’s transition to a self-funded healthcare model. This approach allows OCSD to directly manage healthcare costs and better customize coverage options, all while maintaining high-quality care and adding expanded, no-cost services for employees. Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources Lindsay Maxey emphasized the initiative's broader impact. “This is a meaningful investment in our people,” Maxey said. “When we support the health and well-being of our employees, we are strengthening our entire district and the communities we serve.”
“By bringing care directly to the people we serve, we help remove barriers so that staff members and their families can get the care they need when they need it,” stated Marathon Health Regional Operations Manager Paul Lutz. “When the people who support our students are healthy and supported, our entire community benefits.”
