We are excited to share that Jake Revette, an 8th-grade student in Dr. Norma Eliason’s class at Bruner Middle School, was selected as a winner in Math Nation’s Test Yourself contest, which ran through November and December. Jake earned a perfect score of 10/10 on his Algebra 1 Unit 6 Test Yourself, earning recognition for his class. The contest was statewide, with approximately 41,000 students participating, and three winners selected across Florida, including Jake in Okaloosa County. Students who scored 6/10 or higher were entered into a random drawing, making Jake’s achievement especially impressive!
As part of the celebration, Jake’s class enjoyed a fully catered Taco Party courtesy of Math Nation. Principal Heather Graham-Williams shared, “Jake’s dedication and effort are inspiring, and we are thrilled to celebrate not only his achievement but also the excitement and energy it brings to the entire class. Recognition like this helps foster a love of learning and shows our students that hard work pays off.”
“Jake’s achievement is a great example of what happens when students apply themselves and embrace learning with enthusiasm,” said Superintendent Marcus Chambers. “We’re incredibly proud of him and the entire Bruner Middle School community for fostering a culture where academic success is celebrated.” Kimberly Landtroop from Math Nation added, “The Test Yourself contest motivates students by connecting meaningful academic effort with a fun incentive. Students engage with formative assessments, reflect on their learning, and build confidence through scaffolded video solutions and multiple opportunities to retry. Celebrations like a taco party reinforce a positive culture around math learning and reward persistence and growth.”
Congratulations, Jake, on this outstanding accomplishment!
