Middle School: Ahymn Kim, Ruckel Middle School (7th grade)

The Okaloosa County School District proudly recognized student winners of the Pedestrian Safety Poster Contest on January 26, 2026, celebrating creativity, collaboration, and a shared commitment to student safety. The contest is part of a broader pedestrian safety initiative organized by the Okaloosa County Health Improvement Partnership (OCHIP), which brings together government agencies, law enforcement, schools, health organizations, and community partners to promote public health across Okaloosa County.

Originally launched several years ago by local leaders, including Crestview Mayor JB Whitten, Pedestrian Safety Month, observed each October, continues to raise awareness and encourage safe behaviors throughout the community. Through this contest, students of all ages used positive messaging and artistic expression to highlight the importance of pedestrian safety beyond the classroom.

The district extends its appreciation to OCHIP, the Florida Department of Transportation, the Florida Department of Health, and all community partners for their ongoing support of student safety. Special thanks are also extended to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office STAR Charity and the Okaloosa Public Schools Foundation for providing $100 gift cards to each first-place winner.
