Nathan Basnett, an extraordinary volunteer at Addie R. Lewis School, was recognized at the July 14, 2025, School Board meeting for being named the Okaloosa County School District’s 2024-2025 Volunteer of the Year.
For the past four years, Mr. Basnett has poured his time, energy, and heart into supporting fifth-grade students, working in four out of five classrooms, and impacting over 90 students. Even with a rotating work schedule, he volunteers six hours a day during his off months, consistently showing up for our students and staff.
From one-on-one support and classroom instruction to serving on the PTO and School Advisory Council, Mr. Basnett’s commitment goes far beyond the classroom. His calm presence, strong work ethic, and genuine care have left a lasting mark on the Lewis community.
We are honored to celebrate Mr. Basnett as the District’s Volunteer of the Year and thank him for being a true champion for our schools and students.
