The Youth Leadership Council (YLC) is a group of Okaloosa County juniors and seniors selected by their school principals who have come together to share ideas and develop solutions to issues that are of concern to them. With the support of County Commissioner Mel Ponder and Superintendent Marcus Chambers, this group has met regularly since May 2021 and has identified issues that have a direct impact on their quality of life.
The YLC presented a recommendation to the School Board and Superintendent at the April 8, 2024, School Board meeting regarding a project raising awareness regarding the dangers of Fentanyl and the observation of National Fentanyl Awareness Day on May 7, 2024.
