FLDOE OCSD Schools of Excellence

We are excited to announce that the Florida Department of Education recognizes ten schools in the Okaloosa County School District as 2022-23 Schools of Excellence. This prestigious title is awarded to schools ranked in the 80th percentile or higher for at least two of the last three school years based on their school grade calculation.

OCSD Schools of Excellence:

  • Destin Elementary

  • Edge Elementary

  • Eglin Elementary

  • Florosa Elementary

  • Plew Elementary

  • Northwest Florida Ballet Academie

  • Okaloosa STEMM Academy

  • Ruckel Middle

  • Niceville High

Out of the 783 recognized schools, here's the breakdown:

  • 658 schools maintained their designation from the previous year.

  • 37 schools renewed their designation.

  • 88 schools were newly designated.

The Schools of Excellence program was established in 2017 under HB 7069 by the Florida Legislature. Its goal is to acknowledge and reward the highest-performing schools in Florida, promoting ongoing improvement and providing administrative flexibility to ensure the delivery of top-quality education to students.
