Kristin Gilmore Named Assistant Principal of Lewis School

The Okaloosa County School Board approved Kristin Gilmore as the Assistant Principal of Lewis School at the February 26, 2024, School Board meeting. Mrs. Gilmore was born and raised in Dover, Delaware. After high school, she enlisted in the United States Air Force (USAF) Reserves. She was assigned to the 46th Aerial Port Squadron, Dover Air Force Base (AFB), Delaware, where she deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, managed various programs, and was a supervisor for two career specialty areas before retiring in 2023.

Mrs. Gilmore earned her Bachelors in Community Health in 2009 from Delaware State University. After earning her undergraduate degree, she worked as a Paraprofessional and then as a Cargo Warehouse equipment operator before earning her Master's in Secondary Teaching from Wesley College. Her teaching career in Delaware included positions in 8th-grade science at an alternative placement program, 9th-grade Science at Dover High School, and as the Independent Living Skills teacher for the Capital School District STAR Program for students with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. She earned her Master of Educational Leadership from Wilmington University in 2019, immediately before her husband’s job bringing her family to Okaloosa County. Her teaching career continued in Okaloosa County where she has been the 6-8 CBS/Emotional Behavioral Disability (EBD) classroom teacher at Addie R. Lewis School, Staffing Specialist, and most recently returning to Lewis as the Dean of Students in 2021.  

Mrs. Gilmore is married to Dustin Gilmore who is an active-duty service member assigned to Eglin Air Force Base, they have four children, Parker 14, Harrison 13, Jackson 13, and Payton 12. She is excited to continue her career with Okaloosa County Schools and is grateful for the opportunity to serve Lewis School in her new role as Assistant Principal.
