School Board Meetings Go Digital

The Okaloosa County School Board transitioned to a paperless environment this week during the Board Workshop with the introduction of BoardDocs.

BoardDocs, used by other state organizations including the Florida School Board Association, allows organizations to significantly improve the way they create and manage board packets, access information, and conduct meetings.

Board members (and the public) have access to the board agenda and documents tied to agenda items electronically.

“For the most part I was very happy with how things went today,” said Eric Mitchell, Director, MIS & Instructional Technology.

Board members attended training earlier this month to prepare for the transition and made it through their first Board meeting on Thursday morning without too many glitches.

“It is pretty user-friendly,” said Cindy Frakes, School Board Vice Chairman.

The School Board meeting agendas can still be found on the homepage of school district’s website, www.okaloosaschools.com.  By clicking the link to the agenda, users are taken to the BoardDocs home page.  Meeting agendas can then be found on the left side of the page.  Paper agendas will still be available at the meetings.
