Fort Walton Beach High School Theatre Students Having Incredible Year

Fort Walton Beach High School’s theatre students are having a banner year with three of their shows being selected as top in the state.

The student-directed one act Kosher Lutherans won the Florida Theatre Conference Secondary festival in October and the students took it to the Southeastern Theatre Conference in Louisville a few weeks ago.  The student written one act Shakespeare 2.0 show advanced to the state level and took straight superiors last week in Tampa. The fall play, The Children’s Hour, was one of seven high school productions chosen out of 49 screened from all over the state as the best of 2012-2013 and performed to a packed house last week at the Tampa Theatre.

“We have been having an INCREDIBLE year,” said Christa Whittaker, Chair of Fort Walton’s Theatre Department.  “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels opens in two weeks, so we are not really resting on our laurels.  I have an outstanding group this year.”
