Youth Mental Health First Aid® is the help offered by an adult to a young person (ages 5-18) experiencing a mental health challenge, mental disorder or a mental health crisis.
SB 7026: Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act mandated that all school personnel within his or her school district receive youth mental health awareness and assistance training.
The Florida Department of Education selected Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) as the approved training program for Florida school district personnel.
Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) Training is to help school personnel:
Learn risk factors and warning signs for mental health and addiction concerns
Strategies for how to help youth and children in both crisis and non-crisis situations
Where to turn for help
This course is required for all Instructional and non-instructional school level personnel. Trainings are available throughout the school year. Instructional Staff register through Frontline. Non-instructional staff register using the "Register for Training" form linked below. New employees must complete the training according to the chart.

Once an individual is trained in YMHFA, their YMHFA certificate is valid for 3 years.
