Controlled Open Enrollment, also known as COE, is for families who would like their student to attend a school they are not zoned to attend. To find out which schools your address is zoned for, please utilize the School Site Locator.

Controlled Open Enrollment
for the 2024-2025 School Year will begin January 15th.

The initial COE window opens on January 15th and closes on February 15th. Parents will receive an email informing them of their status as early as February 16. Parents who applied will need to log into FOCUS Parent Portal to accept or decline approved seats.

The next Controlled Open Enrollment window will open March 1st and remain open until the tenth day of the upcoming school year. This window will be first come, first served.

The student's parent/guardian must apply for COE and the application is completed in the Focus Parent Portal.

If your student has already been approved for their current school through Controlled Open Enrollment, you do not need to apply again, their seat is reserved for them next school year.

Please note that not all schools have availability. You can view our school capacity report in the menu above, which lists the schools that have available seats. Parents are responsible for arranging transportation of students who are approved for COE to and from school. Transportation will not be provided. Ready to apply?

How to submit an application for Controlled Open Enrollment

If you have any questions or technical difficulties, you can email coe@okaloosaschools.com for information. Notice of seat assignments will be emailed out after the application window closes on February 15th.

Florida law requires school district to periodically report which schools have Available Seats. This information is a reflection of the current school year and should not be referenced for Controlled Open Enrollment purposes.
