Bruner Middle School Students Compete in State Beta Club Convention

Sixty students from the Bruner Middle School Beta Club traveled to Orlando Florida over the winter holidays to compete in the State Beta Club Convention. The students participated in many competitions varying from arts and crafts, Quiz Bowl, Living Literature, academic tests, poetry, Battle of the Books, Songfest, Special Talent, and much more against thirty-seven other Beta Clubs from across the State of Florida.

The students have been preparing for all of their competitions for months and their hard work paid off.

This year Bruner students came home with wins in the following categories and as a result they qualified to compete in the National Beta Club Convention over the summer: James Beyer (7th grade) placed 3rd out of 37 schools in the individual Social Studies competition. Hannah Grove (7th Grade) placed second in the individual Sketching competition.

Quiz Bowl Team consisting of Chase Cleveland (8th), Ethan Lipnicky (8th), Austin Rothe (8th), and Roderick Peacock (7th), placed third out of all of the teams from the state of Florida, and the Special Talent Group consisting of Virginia Brennan (8th), Sydney Townsend (8th), and Nathalie Waldrop (8th) placed 1st out of all teams.

The Bruner Middle School Beta Club is sponsored by Georgia Henderson and Amy Brewer.

“Congratulations to all of our Bruner Beta Club Members for a great trip and for their accomplishments,” said Henderson.
