The Dolphin Report

Happy last month of the 2025–2026 school year! April was full of fun and memorable moments. We kicked things off with Easter egg hunts around campus and ended with an incredible talent show—our students did an amazing job! A big thank you to Mrs. Hayes and the Boys and Girls Club for putting together such a wonderful event.

The Glow Dance was another highlight, and it truly was a magical night enjoyed by all who attended. Thank you to our amazing PTO for organizing such a special event!

We also had the opportunity to celebrate our Military Kids by wearing purple on April 15th, and we loved welcoming their family members for Muffins with the Military. Throughout the month, our students enjoyed a variety of field trips, including visits to the Biophilia Center, the zoo, the Pirate Cruise, Emerald Coast Wildlife, and participation in Grasses in Classes.

A special thank you to Culver’s for providing ice cream for all students and staff to kick off our testing season and celebrate everyone’s hard work!

End-of-year testing will begin on Monday, May 4th. Please check the schedule for your child’s grade level and testing dates, and be sure to communicate with teachers for specific times. Due to testing across campus and adjusted schedules, we will not allow lunch visitors from May 4th through May 15th. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Following testing, the last day for lunch visitors will be Friday, May 22nd. With numerous class parties and end-of-year celebrations, we are unable to safely accommodate lunch visitors during that time.

May 4-8 is TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK! There are no teachers anywhere that love your kids more or work harder to give them a wonderful experience at school than our DES teachers! Please shower them with love this week! Thank you notes, flowers and hugs are so appreciated! Thank you all for helping us make them feel extra loved this week!

Thanks to Longhorn, The BIG RED TRUCK, The Shrimp Basket, Village Baptist Church, Fatboys, and The Donut Hole for donating meals throughout the week to feed us!

Please help us get our library books all turned back in no later than May 15th! :)

Mrs. Meyer also shared some personal news. She spoke with the students during lunch last week to let them know that she will be transitioning to Niceville High School. They talked about how change is a natural part of life—it can be exciting, but it can also be hard. Just like they are moving up to the next grade level and may miss their teachers and classmates, she feels the same way about this transition.

Let’s make this last month the best one yet and finish strong! The memories and relationships we build each school year are truly special and something to be treasured.

With so much going on, be sure to check out the May Dolphin Report and keep an eye on news from your child's teacher, our Facebook page and this live newsletter for updates!

Thank you for being a supporter of DES and helping us be the best school around! We value all of our families and community members that do so much for us!
