DES Families and Community,
We are off to a fantastic start to the 2nd semester! Our students dove right into learning, and Literacy Week was filled with a love of reading as we enjoyed countless books and activities across campus. Our Book Fair was a huge success, and I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Fette and all of the volunteers who stepped up to make it such a wonderful experience for our students and families.
February is shaping up to be an exciting month at Destin Elementary! We have lots of field trip adventures ahead, our annual Mardi Gras Parade, the Big Fun Run Fundraiser, and the much-anticipated opening of our brand-new playground. The Emerald Coast Music Alliance is coming to perform for our kids and we will have round 2 of our Safety Matters presentations for all of our classes. We will also celebrate Hope Week, February 9–13, with a special focus on spreading kindness—because small acts truly do make a big difference.
In addition, our students will get into the winter spirit by celebrating the Olympics with our very own Reading Olympics! Be on the lookout for all the fun activities and themed dress-up days that go along with these events. Be sure to check out the February Dolphin Report for more information and a full calendar with more information!
Thank you for your continued support and partnership as we grow bigger, better, and stronger together. We can’t wait to share another exciting month with our amazing students, families and community! Please let me know if I can help you in any way!
Warmest Regards,
Amy Meyer, Principal
