Arrival Procedures –

For the first 2 days of school (Tuesday – Wednesday), parents/guardians may escort their child(ren) to class but must promptly exit campus no later than 7:50am. Please be mindful that our teachers must provide proper supervision and will not be able to utilize morning drop off to conference with parents/guardians. If you would like to discuss your child’s needs, please notify your child’s teacher that you would like to schedule a parent conference meeting or a conference call.

For Everyone’s Safety

For the safety of all students, staff, and families, we ask that during morning arrival and afternoon dismissal procedures, students and families utilize the designated crosswalk areas. Please do not cut through the front parking lot area or through buses. Please do NOT drop your student off at the church or on the road. If you’re dropping your student off in the morning, you have 3 daily options: (1) Use the car rider line (please remain in your car – allow your student to exit the car on the passenger side) - please have your student ready to get out the car promptly and quickly (if you need additional time with your student, please use the parking option), (2) park on the grass in front of the school (flagpole area) and your student will use the crosswalk (staff member will be present), (3) if your student is being accompanied by an adult, you may walk your student to the building using the designated crosswalk areas (once again, for safety, do not cross through the bus/parking lot area).

***Please be courteous to each other and to our neighborhood by not blocking driveways or cutting each other off (We teach our students to be respectful and patient, so we must also model that expectation). When using the car line, please only use Texas Parkway to access our car ramp.***

Important!!: To ensure proper supervision, students are not allowed to be dropped off/arrive on campus before 7:20am. If this becomes a concern, you will receive a call from administration or the front office. Remember that our school has a options available for Before/Afterschool Daycare – Please contact Ms. Horn 850-833-7268 Option 4 or lakeyia.horn@okaloosaschools.com) Hours – 6:00am – 6:00pm.

Breakfast begins at 7:20am - Staff members will be in the cafeteria to supervise breakfast students and on the car ramp, until they are released to go to their classrooms at 7:45am.

VPK students (Ms. Warren’s Class) are the ONLY students allowed to pick-up their student during afternoon dismissal in the front parking lot (Bus Only area). Your student will wait on the bench in front of the school and the parent/guardian will exit their vehicle and check-in at the bench with Ms. Warren to pick up their student. ***New Arrival Procedure for the 26-27 SY: During morning arrival, VPK students will be dropped off using the car rider ramp (carline).***

Tardy Bell will ring at 7:50am. After 7:50am, parents must accompany their students into the Front Office to check-in. Do not drop them off in front of the office/front door.

Bus Transportation: Bus Route information can be found on the district website at https://www.okaloosaschools.com/page/bus-routes Use the “Infofinderi” or access the routes by selecting “Bob Sikes Elementary School” under the North Transportation Routes section. Important!!: Please make sure your contact information is kept up to date so you can receive notifications from the Transportation Department to when there are delays or schedule changes involving your student's bus. If we have a late bus, we will post the time the bus picked them up at school on our school Facebook page.

Dismissal Procedures –

Early Dismissal: To ensure that your student follows their correct dismissal procedure, NO early dismissals will be allowed after 1:50pm without administrative approval. Please remember that your photo identification IS required for all early dismissals – EVERYTIME. (If you need to see your student in the front office during the day and you’re not checking them out, photo identification will still be required.)

Changes in transportation must be requested through written documentation. Please send hard copy written request to your child’s teacher and include your child’s first and last name, child’s homeroom teacher, your contact information, and detail if it will be a permanent change or temporary change.

Dismissal Release Order – Dismissal procedures will begin at 2:20pm

Please adhere to the following pick-up areas:

Walkers – Kindergarten – 5th grade students will be released in our front grass parking area (flagpole).

Car Riders (Single Student) – To speed up the car line, we will continue utilizing a double car line system. This double line system allows us the ability to load 12 cars at once instead of 6. Once ALL cars loading have come to a complete stop, a staff member will help load your student. For the safety of all students loading, please do not move your vehicle until a staff member releases your line (remain still). Our goal is to be the Chick-fil-a of car lines, but we need your help! As you enter the carline the poles and cones are numbered 1-6. A staff member will assign your car a pole number and your child will be taken to that assigned pole to load. You are required to have your carline tag visible for pickup.

1. Please do not get out of your car.

2. Please arrange your vehicle so your child can enter on the passenger side.

3. Please do not use this time for teacher/staff conferences.

4. Please practice helping your child remember their car rider tag number. The faster they recognize their number, the faster we can load them in your car.

5. Please adhere to the directives of the staff and be patient as the first two weeks of school always run longer than usual.

*For the safety of all students, parents and guardians may not walk over to the car ramp to pick up their child. All car riders must be picked up through the designated car line. If you forget to bring your car tag, you will be required to go to the front office for verification.

Sibling Car Rider Dismissal Pickup Procedures:

·         If your selected, “Sibling Car Rider Church Pickup” (Your student will be assigned a “Black Bag Tag” and they are not assigned a number): Staff members will walk your student to the church and will release students (This option is similar to a “walker” – no tag number verification to release).

·         If you selected, “Sibling Car Rider Side Gate Pickup” (Your student will be assigned a “Gray Bag Tag” and they are assigned a 300 tag number: A staff member will remain inside the side gate with your student and you will be required to show your car rider tag number to the staff member at the gate to verify pickup.

·         If you selected, “Sibling Car Rider School Carline Pickup” (Your student will be assigned a “Red Bag Tag” and they are assigned a 400 tag number: These are siblings who will be going through the actual carline (carline ramp).

We will walk our sibling car rider church pickup group to the church parking lot area at approximately 2:25pm to release. If you are not in the parking lot by 2:30pm, you will need to pick your student in the Front Office. Please be respectful of the church property (stay on the sidewalks – do not walk through the shrubs/flowers beds and do not allow students to play in the water fountain).

Car Rider No-Numbers (Temporary) – If your student is not a regular car rider and you have sent in a note for temporary car line pickup, your student will be referenced as “No Number” when you pick up.

Bus Riders – Staff will escort bus riders to their designated bus. Buses will be referenced by assigned colors.

Daycare – Students attending afterschool daycare will be released at the same time we release walkers. If carline dismissal is in process, parents/guardians will be required to enter through the Front Office to access the Daycare Building.
