Please be mindful that our teachers must provide proper supervision and will not be able to utilize morning drop off to conference with parents/guardians. If you would like to discuss your child’s needs, please notify your child’s teacher that you would like to schedule a parent conference meeting or a conference call.

For Everyone’s Safety 🛑🚸

We kindly ask that parents and students do not walk through the front bus parking lot area at any time. Please use the designated crosswalk marked with bright orange cones when walking to and from campus. This helps us keep all students, families, and staff safe during arrival and dismissal. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping safety our top priority!

Please be courteous to each other and to our neighborhood by not blocking driveways or cutting each other off. When using the car line, please only use Texas Parkway to access our car ramp.

Important! To ensure proper supervision, students are not allowed to be dropped off/arrive on campus before 7:00am. (Daycare Before/Afterschool Options are available – Please contact Ms. Horn 850-833-7268 Option 4 or lakeyia.horn@okaloosaschools.com) Hours – 6:00am – 6:00pm.

Breakfast begins at 7:00am - Staff members will be in the cafeteria to supervise breakfast students and on the car ramp, until they are released to go to their classrooms at 7:15am.

VPK students (Ms. Warren’s Class) are the ONLY students allowed to drop off in the front parking lot (Bus Only area).

Tardy Bell will ring at 7:30am. After 7:30am, parents must accompany their students to the Front Office to check-in.

Safety First – DO NOT drop your student off on the main road (Regardless of their age). Please use the car line or park in the front grass parking area and allow your student to utilize the cross walk.

Bus Transportation: Bus Route information can be found on the district website at https://www.okaloosaschools.com/page/bus-routes Use the “Infofinderi” or access the routes by selecting “Bob Sikes Elementary School” under the North Transportation Routes section. Important: Please make sure your contact information is kept up to date so you can receive notifications to when there are delays or schedule changes involving your student's bus.

Dismissal

To ensure that your student follows their correct dismissal procedure, NO early dismissals will be allowed after 1:30pm.

Changes in transportation must be requested through written documentation. Please send hard copy written request to your child’s teacher and include your child’s first and last name, child’s homeroom teacher, your contact information, and detail if it will be a permanent change or temporary change.

Dismissal Release Order – Dismissal will begin at 2:00pm

Walkers – If your child is a walker (You live within the 2-mile walking zone then your child is considered a walker and may be picked up at one of the designated grade specific areas)

Please adhere to the following pick-up areas:

Walkers - Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade students will be released across the street in the church parking lot area. Due to church constructions, parents are ONLY allowed to park in the small lot located on the right side of the church (KG, 1st and 2nd graders with older siblings will release with their KG-2nd grade sibling. (Ex. If you have a KG student and a 5th grade student, they will be released at the Church parking lot area.)

Walkers - 3rd, 4 and 5th grade students will be released in our front grass parking area.

Car Riders – To speed up the car line, we will continue utilizing a double car line system. This double line system allows us the ability to load 12 cars at once instead of 6. Once ALL cars loading have come to a complete stop, a staff member will help load your student. For the safety of all students loading, please do not move your vehicle until a staff member releases your line. Our goal is to be the Chick-fil-a of car lines, but we need your help! As you enter the carline the poles and cones are  numbered 1-6. A staff member will assign your car a pole number and your child will be taken to that assigned pole to load. You are required to have your carline tag visible for pickup.

1. Please do not get out of your car.

2. Please arrange your vehicle so your child can enter on the passenger side.

3. Please do not use this time for teacher/staff conferences.

4. Please practice helping your child remember their car rider tag number. The faster they recognize their number, the faster we can load them in your car.

5. Please adhere to the directives of the staff and be patient as the first two weeks of school always run longer than usual.

*For the safety of all students, parents and guardians may not walk over to the car ramp to pick up their child. All car riders must be picked up through the designated car line.

Sibling Car Rider Pickup (300 #’s – Car Tags) -

All sibling carline students (Students assigned 300 numbers) will be picked up in the church parking lot area. Due to church constructions, parents are ONLY allowed to park in the small lot located on the right side of the church. We will walk our sibling group to the church parking lot area at approximately 2:05pm to release. You will be required to show your carline tag when picking up, so please have it in hand. If at any time you do not have your tag, you will be required to go to the Front Office to verify your pickup permissions. If you are not in the parking lot by 2:10pm, you will need to pick your student in the Front Office.

Please Note: ALL CAR RIDERS will be provided with a car rider tag the first day of school that must remain on their backpack throughout the year – It will be their assigned car tag number.  If at any time you do not have your tag, you will be required to go to the Front Office to verify your pickup permissions.

Car Rider No-Numbers (Temporary) – If your student is not a regular car rider and you have sent in a note for temporary car line pickup, your student will be referenced as “No Number” when you pick up.

Bus Riders – Staff will escort bus riders to their designated bus. Buses will be referenced by colors this year.

Daycare – Students attending afterschool daycare will be released at the same time we release walkers. If carline dismissal is in process, parents/guardians will be required to enter through the Front Office to access the Daycare Building.
