Welcome to Edwins!

Whether you are new to our school or have been a part of our school in previous years, I would like to welcome you!  We are gearing up for another exciting and productive year here at Edwins Elementary!  As the principal of this amazing community school I look forward to meeting you and supporting your children as they learn and grow.  My commitment to you is that we will always strive to do what is best for kids.

Edwins loves parent and community involvement.  There are many paths for you to be engaged. We invite you to be a classroom volunteer, and School Advisory Committee member, and to attend school events. Your voice matters!  Please feel free to contact me or our assistant principal Ila Reeder, if you have concerns or ideas to improve our school.

Please take a moment to explore our website.  Did you know that you can view bus routes, calendars, and lunch menus, check your child's grades, sign up to volunteer, and pay for lunch or activity fees online?

Thank you for being a part of our learning community!

Ila Reeder, Assistant Principal

Ila Reeder

Ila Reeder is a proud product of Okaloosa County Schools. She attended the University of West Florida where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, a Masters in Reading, and a Specialist degree in Educational Leadership. She has 19 years of experience in education. During that time, she spent 14 years teaching 3rd and 4th grade, 5 years at the secondary level teaching 6th, 7th, and 8th grade ELA, and last year she served as a guidance counselor at Bruner Middle School. Throughout her career she served in numerous mentor and leadership roles, as grade chair and department head, participating on various school and district committees, and leading school-based professional development.

Reeder has been married to Stephen Reeder, also a product of Okaloosa County Schools, for 20 years. They are the proud parents of Caleb and Logan Reeder, both students at Fort Walton Beach High School. Mrs. Reeder is grateful for the opportunity to return “home” to Edwins and serve as the Assistant Principal at the school where her teaching career began.  She contributes her success in education to her time at Edwins Elementary, where she learned the importance and power of relationships and the impact they have on student achievement. She is honored to have the opportunity to give back to the school and community that gave so much to her.

Dean of Students
Mr. Anderson

Eric Anderson

Mr. Anderson spent 22 years in the Navy.  After he got out of the Navy, he sought out other ways to serve the community and chose to become a corrections officer. He completed his training and started working full-time work at Santa Rosa Correctional.

It was not long before Anderson noticed how many youth offenders were in prison for life for violent crimes. He decided quickly that he was on the wrong end of helping the community and decided to become a teacher so he could positively influence students.

Anderson graduated in 2009, he started his career at Riverside Elementary School. Within a year, he was able to get a job in my community at Edwins Elementary School.  He has taught 4th and 5th grade Science and Math and has also led the kids in coding after school. Anderson was selected Teacher of the Year for 2022 and was promoted to Dean of Students for the 2022-2023 school year. “I am extremely excited about my next step in education,” said Anderson.

Mr. Anderson has been married for 20 years and has a son who is attending the University of Central Florida.
