Kindergarten/New Student Registration for 2020-21 SY

Superintendent Marcus Chambers has announced the opening of a new OCSD Registration Portal for the 2020-21 School Year.  Through the portal, parents can complete most of the registration process online from home.  The Registration Portal can be found at the District's website, in the Parents/Students section and here on the Walker website.

In addition to personal items, parents can pick up student medications from the clinic on the designated pick-up day.  Be sure to call the clinic to let Mrs. Shana know that you are coming and she will have everything ready for you.  Medication not picked up will be destroyed.  Please call the school if you have any questions.

Free Tutoring for Military Students

Military students and their families can participate in free tutoring.  For more information, click here

Kindergarten Registration

Walker Elementary is accepting Kindergarten Registration Packets. However, to adhere to CDC, State, and District health and safety guidelines we can only accept the packets through email, fax, or mail.  You can also wait until our campus is open to the public and drop off registration packets then. If you choose to send your packet in please include the required documentation from the provided registration checklist and make sure all applicable pages are signed and dated in the registration packet. Do not send originals as they will not be returned. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this unprecedented time. Community Unity

You are invited to join us each Monday morning at 8:00 am to cite the Pledge of Allegiance.  Wherever you are, step outside and join us as we unite as a community to provide hope for others that normalcy will come again.  This will happen every Monday through the end of the school year.

Food Service at Walker

Walker will be a breakfast and lunch pick up spot.  Our lunchroom staff will be handing out breakfast and lunch from 7:30-11:30, Monday-Friday, starting April 1st.  This will take place on the car ramp at Walker School and be similar to a drive through.  You must stay in your cars to receive the meals.  A callout regarding this service occured on Tuesday, March 31st in the late afternoon.

Military Counseling Available

Mrs. April, our Military Counselor, is available to meet with students through Zoom.

Student Emails

All students K-5 now have an email account provided by the school district. Please have your child watch the informational how-to video on OCSD’s webpage to learn how to log in to check their messages. This will be one way teachers will communicate with students and parents, and how students can send questions and assignments to their teachers.

NEWS: Field Trips

To protect students and staff, no trips out of county will take place.  This is effectively immediately (as of March 12, 2020) and will be in place until further notice.  Please refer to this letter from the District for more information.

We are so excited and proud of Mrs. Meadows and Mrs. Cyrus.  Mrs. Meadows is Walker's Teacher of the Year and Mrs. Cyrus is Walker's Ed Support Person of the Year.  Both ladies represent Walker so well and are a blessing to all.  Congratulations!

Flu Vaccination Program Canceled

Healthy Schools, LLC has cancelled all their services for all school districts in the state of Florida, which means we will not be having our In-School Flu Vaccination Clinics.  For more information, click here.

New Traffic Pattern

Over the summer, Okaloosa County School District worked with Okaloosa County Road Department and the City of Crestview to come up with a traffic pattern to relieve traffic congestion. This traffic pattern will begin on the first day of the 2019-2020 school year. Please click here to read more information regarding the traffic pattern and view a map.

Bus Drivers Needed

Okaloosa County is in need of bus drivers.  If you are interested in being a driver, please contact the Transportation department.  The contact information can be found on the Okaloosa County School website.
