Shalimar ES Holds Pumpkin Palooza

Shalimar Elementary School recently held their first annual Pumpkin Palooza. Students from each first grade class converged on the front lawn to pick their perfect pumpkin which was then used for a variety of fun and academic purposes.

Students got hands-on with their pumpkin and used them to make scientific observations such as pumpkin height, width, and weight as well as physical attributes like color, stem or no stem and buoyancy. Students also visited two stations where they created Math Pumpkin Glyphs based on their favorite fall things and decorated their pumpkins. In addition to the pumpkin fun the first grades enjoyed fall story books and spooky tales.
