School Board Approves New Administrators - May 29, 2018

At the May 29, 2018 School Board meeting, Karl Schroeder was named the Assistant Principal at Meigs Middle School and JC Cotton was named the Assistant Principal at Florosa Elementary.

He attended Edwins Elementary School, Bruner Junior High School, and Fort Walton Beach High School.  After he graduated from Fort Walton Beach High School, he attended the University of Southern Mississippi and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Administration/ Coaching and Biology and Physical Science.  Karl began his career in education teaching Biology and Fundamental Science and coaching football, wrestling, weight-lifting and track at Fort Walton Beach High School.

In 2001, Karl moved to Central Florida to be a head football coach/educator in Osceola County, Florida.  While in Osceola County he received Osceola County’s Dean Cherry Coach of the Year Award and the Central Florida Citrus Bowl Coach of the Year award. In 2014, Karl earned his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from The American College of Education and moved back to the Panhandle. He taught Anatomy, Physiology, and Biology and coached Football and Track at Walton High School.  In 2016, he returned to Okaloosa County as Dean of Students at Baker School.

Picture of JC Cotton and his family at the School Board MeetingJC Cotton is also a proud product of Okaloosa County School District.  He graduated from Fort Walton Beach High School in 1997 then attended Northwest Florida State College and the University of West Florida. JC graduated from the University of West Florida in 2016 with a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership. He is married to Patti and they have two children, Addison and JC III.
