Area Middle Schools Excel in Emerald Coast Math Counts Competition

Students from six area middle schools competed in the 2018 Emerald Coast Math Counts Competition on Saturday, February 3rd at the Okaloosa STEMM Center.

First place team was from Shoal River Middle School and their official alternate who also goes to state. Pictured above from left to right—Tyler Smith (5th place individual award), Anna Todd(4th place individual award), Hongloan Tran(3rd place individual award), Richelle Teets (2nd place individual award) and alternate Diego Maldonado-Negron.

The students on the first and second place teams along with the top TWO individuals not on a team, but in the top 10 top, will advance to the state competition in Daytona on March 23rd.

Math Counts is sponsored annually by the Emerald Coast Chapter of the Florida Engineering Society and the Society of American Military Engineers.
