We have three designated pick up points on Ruckel Property:
• The Car Rider Ramp in front of the school • In front of the Ruckel Gym
• The parking lot on the school side of the street across from the Post Office from 7:20
Please don't use the teacher parking lot behind the Cafeteria or St. Jude's Church parking lot. These are NOT designated pick up/drop off areas for students.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Information about appropriate procedures HERE
Parents, please remember students should not be reporting to school prior to 7:00 am as teachers are not
on duty. If your student arrives between 7:00 and 7:20 am, they are to report to the Cafeteria where a faculty member will be present. This is for the safety of your student.
Campus Arrival Period
All students arriving at Ruckel Middle School BEFORE 7:20 am must be dropped off
at the FRONT parking lot or the GYM parking lot.
The BACK GATE of the school will not open until 7:20 am, at which time students
may enter from all three locations.
Please take a moment to review Ruckel's Attendance Policies here
• No phone call is necessary the day your student is out; however, a written note is required to be sent with your student the day they return to school.
• Current Procedure
Upon their return to campus, students have five days to supply a note to excuse the absence. They will bring the note to the Front Office and they will verify the note and enter the excused absence in the AS400 and PAWS system, which will be notification that the absence has been excused during the proper time frame. This will eliminate the handling of a note from person to person. They will also mark tardiness and check outs in PAWS.
• No absence will be excused without a written note.

BECOME A MENTOR
Ruckel needs you! We are looking for mentors to come and spend some time with students. We especially need a bilingual mentor fluent in Spanish.
The commitment is once per week during the student's 30-minute lunch time.
Studies have shown that students who are mentored develop more positive attitudes, achieve higher grades, improve relationships with adults and peers, are better able to express feelings, are more likely to trust their teachers, and develop higher levels of self-confidence.
Please follow the link https://www.okaloosaschools.com/depts/ca/volunteer for instructions on this process. There is an application and background check that must be completed. Contact Guidance at 833-4142 for more information. We look forward to seeing you on campus!

Sexting is becoming a wide-spread concern among teenagers in the world.
