Advanced Placement

Students, if you seek more challenging work and plan to graduate from college, it's important to build a strong foundation for success.

In middle school and high school, there are courses for advanced students. These courses are more difficult; they move quicker and require more homework. If your grades are good and you feel ready for more challenging work, talk to your guidance counselor about the requirements for enrolling in advanced courses.

Other opportunities for academic success include becoming involved in math teams, Odyssey of the Mind and academic teams. Competing in the science fair is another good way to challenge yourself academically.

All of these opportunities have one common factor: they require discipline and commitment.

Okaloosa is determined to further strengthen our commitment to the AP, IB and AICE programs. We recognize the importance of having high quality, trained teachers who are motivated to go beyond regular classroom work and tackle the task of teaching demanding college courses to high school students.

Take advantage of what your school offers. Keep up with what is happening at school and don't be afraid to ask questions or ask for help. We are here to serve you and to help every student realize his potential.

Thank you for stepping up to the challenge and preparing Okaloosa students for success after high school. This page is dedicated to giving you the information and contacts that we hope will make your job just a little bit easier and more rewarding.
