Volunteer Requirements

Our school frequently relies on parent volunteers for a variety of help, from special projects to fund-raising to helping out with art or music programs and so on. Our volunteers have enriched the school experience for thousands of our students, enabling us to offer opportunities that would never have been possible without their help.

If you are interested in volunteering, please complete the online volunteer application:

Please read the Volunteer Handbook (or Manual del voluntario en español)  for information on policies and guidelines. Our volunteers are the heart of our school. Thank you for everything you do!

Volunteer Opportunities

Beautification Committee

Got a green thumb? Have some time to weed or plant? You can be a Plew Planter! Many volunteer hours are spent keeping our school grounds looking beautiful. Every garden spot is adopted by a family who voluteers to keep that area green and growing. From the Magic TreeHouse reading area, to the Amphtheater, to the reading benches, Plew Planters make our school a great place to learn and grow.

Volunteer support is critical to the operation of the Media Center. We need the help of dedicated volunteers in many areas: shelving returned books, repairing damaged books, being a story time reader, decorating the Media Center to keep it lively and inviting, in-processing new materials so they are available to students. Twice a year, the library sponsors a Book Fair which requires volunteers for a limited time for set-up, book sales, and break-down after the event.

Room Parents

Each classroom benefits greatly from the involvement of the students’ parents. A Room Parent works closely with the classroom teacher coordinating special events during the year. They are the connection between the teacher and the rest of the parents when planning for parties, field trips, etc. It is not a huge investment of time but they need to enjoy organizing people and events. Please volunteer with your child’s teacher.

Run For Fundz

The Run for Fundz is our big fall fundraiser. This even combines lesson of good character and physical fitness. Students get pledges for running 25 to 35 laps around a course set up behind the school. All students receive a t-shirt to wear for the Run and their completed laps are marked on the back of the t-shirts. Volunteers are needed to count pledges, man the water station, mark t-shirts on the day of the Run, and much more.

Classroom Volunteers

Ask your child's teacher if there are other volunteer opportunties with your child's class. Parents are always welcome to help with parties, field trips, and other classroom events. If you can't make it to school during the school day, maybe you can help at home. Just ask your teacher what needs to be done!

We look forward to working for Plew and all our families. Please feel free to contact any board member with ideas or suggestions you may have.

It is the efforts of many dedicated parents that result in Plew being an A+ school, and with your help, we'll set the bar even higher!
