Okaloosa Bioblitz

A bioblitz is a survey which provides an opportunity to inventory the plants, animals, and other organisms that live in a specific area. A bioblitz species inventory involves observing, recording and documenting living things in a short period of time. Participants gain greater awareness and understanding of the biodiversity of an area. For more info about a bioblitz go to: natgeoed.org/bioblitz.

Over the next three years, through the Okaloosa SCIENCE Initiative, Okaloosa County Schools will use the bioblitz data to understand patterns of diversity and interconnectedness. Students will be able to construct food webs and analyze data across the county. Data will be shared with the public through project pages on iNaturalist.org and Encyclopedia of Life (eol.org) as well as through service learning, art projects, and more.
