CHELCO and OPSF Teacher Grants Provide New Opportunities for the Classroom

The Okaloosa Public Schools Foundation (OPSF) recently awarded twenty-seven teacher grants, five CHELCO grants and twenty-two OPSF grants, this year for a total of $35,602. The grants were funded in part by CHELCO, the Okaloosa Public Schools Foundation, and the State of Florida through the Consortium of Florida Education Foundations and ranged anywhere from $400 - $1,500 per grant.

The teachers applied for the competitive grants, detailing the ways in which they would spend the grant funds and how the grant would help their students and classrooms.

Superintendent Chambers’ Comments on Public Schools Week

In honor of Public Schools Week and “Give Thanks Thursday,” I would like to take this opportunity to express how grateful I am for public education and its impact on our area. We are blessed to live in a community known for its beautiful beaches and large woodland areas. We are known for our population growth, thriving tourism economy, and significant military presence. We are known for our diversity and our unique municipalities, each having its own culture and identifying characteristics. These are the things that make us a destination location.
