For Diabetes Awareness Month, the Fort Walton Beach Lions Clubs provided diabetes education on easy-to-use bookmarks to over 3500 students at Pryor, Bruner, Destin and Meigs Middle Schools in Okaloosa County.  Pictured handing out the bookmarks to students at Pryor Middle School are Lions Bill Brown, Wayne Simpson (in lion suit) and Mark Andrews.  The bookmarks list the warning signs, complications and risks factors of Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes as well as ways to prevent the disease.

Articles - 2018 - Science - ACCEL Grants

Fourteen Okaloosa County School District educators were selected to receive 2018 ACCEL Science and Engineering Grants from the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) Gulf Coast Chapter. The NDIA awarded grants to the projects that demonstrated creativity and innovation in teaching and encouraged an interest in science, technology, engineering, and math. The recipients received grants up to $1000 on Thursday, November 8th at the US Air Force Armament Museum.
