The Okaloosa County School Board has issued a Proclamation declaring that  Wednesday, November 20, 2019, be recognized as National Education Support Professionals Day.


WHEREAS, public schools are the backbone of our democracy, providing young people with the tools they need to maintain our nation’s precious values of freedom, civility and equality; and

WHEREAS, Education Support Professionals are an integral part of the education process; and

Laura Steele, Kindergarten Math and Science Teacher at Wright Elementary School, was recognized at the November 12th School Board meeting for being the recipient of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching from the White House in Washington, D.C., for teaching kindergarten students.

Articles - 2019 - DMS - Academic Tournament

Destin Middle School hosted a Middle School Academic Tournament on November 2, 2019. Okaloosa County School District Middle School academic tournaments are held each year, and each school is asked to host every other year. There are on average five Middle School tournaments throughout the year. The rest of this year’s tournaments are on January 25 at Meigs Middle School, March 7th at Ruckel Middle School, and April 25th (tentative) at Shoal River Middle School (co-hosting with Baker School). Laurel Hill and Davidson also co-host a tournament; they will do so next year.
