Plew ES Hold Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Office

Plew Elementary School held a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, October 20, 2017 for their front office addition.  This was a very special day for Plew as it was the 50th day of their 50th year!  Plew Elementary has grown over its fifty years to a student body of 800.

Carolyn McAllister, Plew’s Principal shared with the crowd, “The school was originally built for about 500 and our world is very different now.  We needed a safe environment for our children.  And so began our Plew project.”

The new building was accomplished through the efforts of many individuals and businesses.

“We hit a few bumps in the road for our self-help project, but we persevered,” said McAllister.  “We had support from Steve Bolton’s office, approval by the School Board – especially our District 5 member, Melissa Thrush, our Parent Leadership Organization, and community support.  It was constructed by Jacobs Engineering. And, we did it!!”

McAllister welcomed the community and School Board members present and introduced the district staff.  The fifth grade chorus entertained the audience and everyone was treated to refreshments after the ribbon cutting.
