Book Fair

Attention parents and families:

Our Scholastic Book Fair is a reading event that brings to school the books the kids want to read.  It’s a wonderful selection of engaging and affordable books for every reading level.  Please make plans to visit our Book Fair and be involved in shaping your child’s reading habits.  The Book Fair dates are: November 14th through the 21st (except Friday, it is closed) with shopping hours being 7:00 to 2:15 daily.  There is also a digital payment option for students: it’s called eWallet.  Now you can send your child to shop the fair cash-free.  Visit our Book Fair homepage at the link below to learn more and create an account.  If you have any questions or would like to volunteer at the Book Fair, contact Carla Hunt in the Meigs Media Center at 833-4301.  Hope to see you at the Fair!

Field Test FSA ELA Writing for 8th grade students

Schools throughout Okaloosa County were selected by the state Department of Education to field test items for possible future FSA Writing Assessments.  Meigs Middle School was assigned to administer a Field Test to 8th graders.

Description of Field TestELA Writing is a standalone field-test administration that  DOE periodically requires to gather important data and establish scoring guidelines for the field-tested prompts that may be used on future operational assessments.  They anticipate that this Writing field-test administration will provide enough data that another standalone field test will not be needed for several years. Selected schools are not only contributing to this important process, but participating students also have an opportunity to engage in the ELA Writing test experience prior to the spring operational administration.

Change for Children Campaign

We are kicking off our Change or Children campaign this Thursday at our pep rally! You can help Children In Crisis raise funds by donating your change at the pep rally or afterwards in the 3 jugs located in the Front Office. Occasionally, we will have contests between grade levels, the grade with the most change will win (prizes will vary). In case you are not familiar with Children In Crisis, they are a 501, non-profit charity working to provide homes and establish hope to the to the foster children of our community. They are committed to keeping brothers and sisters together. Any amount of change will help. Our campaign runs all school year, until mid-May.
