Ms. Suzanne Boyd, Assistant Principal

Ms. Suzanne Boyd has been the Assistant Principal at Kenwood since the 2016-2017 school year.  Prior to that, she spent two years as the Assistant Principal at Wright Elementary. In her 28 years at Wright Elementary, she  taught 3rd grade, 3rd through 5th grade Project CHILD writing, was the Media Specialist, and the Elementary Resource Teacher. During her tenure at Wright, she earned her National Board Certification in Middle Grades Language Arts.

Ms. Boyd is a product of the Okaloosa County School system. She attended Kindergarten in what is now the old School Board building in downtown Fort Walton Beach. She also attended Annette P. Edwins Elementary, Elliott Point Elementary, Bruner Junior High School, and Fort Walton Beach High School.

She believes strongly in the power of public education. The value of education was instilled in her early on by her parents.  Some of her fondest school memories include her 3rd grade teacher, Mrs. Butler, who's tough love helped her survive when she was experiencing that homesick feeling after being moved to a new school; science experiments in Mr. Dave Gordon’s 6th grade class; band at Bruner with Mr. Dodd and Ms. Thiele; and then again at FWBHS with Mr. Hebson. Those teachers, and many others, led her to always want to be a teacher herself – Mrs. O’Neill, Mrs. Moon, Terry Bevino, Chris Dodd, Gary Wood, Mr. Patterson, and last but not least, Mrs. Gerahty, her algebra teacher, who showed her the way with those challenging equations. Ms. Boyd's list of mentors is endless!

Ms. Boyd has two young adult children, Mackenzie and Andrew, both of whom attended Okaloosa County schools. She has learned so much from being their mom and loves being a part of their lives.

She is honored to have the role she has at Kenwood and is proud of the dedication she  sees in our students and teachers.  As an educator, she can deeply appreciate your trust as we work together to provide your children with a solid elementary educational foundation that will continue to serve them well throughout their school careers and their adult lives.
