Students Participate in Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Annual Oratorical and Poster Contest

Students across Okaloosa County participated in the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Annual Oratorical and Poster Contest on Saturday, January 9th at Striving for Perfection Ministries.

The theme for this year’s event was “My Life Matters” and activities included student speeches and a poster contest.

Winners in each category received a trophy and a $200 savings account from Compass Bank.

The winners of the Oratorical contest were:

Elementary School: 1st — Ansley Aden; 2nd — DeShawn Ford; 3rd — Mary Owens
Middle School: 1st — Isabel Breboneria; 2nd — Auysha Duren; 3rd — Austin Vandyne
High School: 1st — Juwan Gaines; 2nd — Dozier Thomas; 3rd — Sean Millet

The winners of the Poster contest were:

Elementary School: 1st — Nyala Head; 2nd — Kaylie Garcia; 3rd — Charlotte Leachman
Middle School: 1st — Jaden Hall; 2nd — Rhizza Lucena; 3rd — Alyicea
High School: 1st — Jeremy Mathew; 2nd — Rendell Lucena; 3rd — Rachel Simon
