Plew Elementary School Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

Plew Elementary School students are celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15th to October 15th.  Under the guidance of the school’s Spanish teacher, Señora Avellanet students will learn about many aspects of the Hispanic culture. They will participate in Hispanic cooking classes, enjoy crafts, watch cultural videos, learn folk dances, study poems and research famous Hispanic people.

Plew kicked off this month long celebration recently with Taco Dinner Night and a School Open House.  Several Hispanic parents prepared the traditional taco dinner and volunteered to share interesting facts about their countries of origin with the students.

“The Plew students are enjoying the celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.  iOlé!” said Avellanet.
