Okaloosa Public Schools Foundation Announces Teacher Grant Program for 2016-2017

The Okaloosa Public Schools Foundation (OPSF), in partnership with CHELCO and other community contributors, is pleased to announce that applications are now open for the 2016-2017 Teacher Grant Program.  Our community-based contributions will be matched, dollar-for-dollar, by the Consortium of Florida Education Foundations (CFEF).  Grants of $500 will be awarded on a competitive basis to teachers across Okaloosa County.

Classroom Grants to be funded will be those that support projects and programs in STEM and Literacy at any grade level.  Professional Development Grants to be funded will be those that address teaching quality in any subject area and at any grade level.

Applications must include certifications signed by the applicant’s principal, by the Chair of the applicant’s School Advisory Council and by the applicant.  The “window” for applications opens today.  The deadline for submission is 3:00 PM on September 30, 2016.  Applications will be reviewed by a Committee drawn from the OPSF Board or Directors; that Committee will then recommend applications for funding.  Grant recipients will be announced the week of October 10, 2016.

Questions about the application process should be directed to Dort Baltes, Special Projects Coordinator for OPSF.  She can be reached by e-mail at dortbaltes@cox.net or by telephone at 850-502-9717.
