Old Spanish Trail Shrine Club Gives Holiday Cheer to Walker Families

For the past several years, the Old Spanish Trail Shrine Club has spearheaded a drive to support families at Walker Elementary School that could use a little assistance during the holidays.

This year Shrine Club members worked with Publix Supermarket to provide turkeys and all the needed items for delicious Christmas dinners.  Toys were provided for families by the Shrine Club and Walker Staff members.  An anonymous contributor donated gift cards that were provided to families as well.

Shrine Club officers and members, Jerry Carrol, Marion Gobin, Dick Russell, and John Brown delivered the toys and bags of food to the school to distribute to parents.

“Thanks to this wonderful partnership, Walker students and their siblings were able to have gifts under their Christmas trees that they might not have had without this help,” said Walker Principal, Jeanine Kirkland.   “Each year the Shrine Club makes a special effort to see that Walker families and children have a happy Christmas.  The school deeply appreciates the kind and generous support provided by the Old Spanish Trail Shrine Club.”
