Okaloosa Lions Special Olympic Basketball Team Brings Home the Gold

The Okaloosa Lions Special Olympic Basketball Team competed in the 2014 Special Olympic State Basketball Games in February 2014 and brought home the Gold! The team was recognized at the March 10 School Board meeting.

The Okaloosa Lions team is made up of students from Richbourg School in Crestview, Florida.

“This was their first year as a team and they have come a long way since their first practice in late October,” said one coach, Heather Carmical.  “We also had an Individual Skills Competitor, Andrew Williams, compete and he brought home the Silver in his division.  Richbourg School, parents, coaches and numerous supporters are incredibly proud of these students! Way to go Lions!”

The Okaloosa Lions are coached by Heather Carmcial, Otto Rosero-Garces, and Leigh Rose.  Team Members are Jacob Luttrell, Colby Thames, Cierra LeDuc, Leslie Chase and Lester Rivers.  (Members unable to make state games were Haley Stanton and Allyssa Whitedhead.)
