NHS Students Participate in Local Art Contest

The 2016-2017 school year just started, but what does Jill Frakes, Niceville High School (NHS) Digital Design instructor, do when she gets a call from a local bank to participate in a design competition?  She has her students jump right in to good old fashion competition!

Betty Brassell, First City Bank, contacted digital design teachers across Okaloosa County to join in a local art contest to showcase art that depicts Fort Walton Beach, Florida, as “The Happiest City in Florida.”  Wanting her students to have the experience of competition, Frakes could not sign her Digital Design 3 and 4 students up fast enough!

First City Bank created the competition to see what elements of the city contribute to it being a good place to live.  NHS students will be competing with other artists across the panhandle of Florida.  The art exhibit and voting will be open until September 30 in the First City Bank atrium.  Winners will be announced during the Awards Ceremony at 6 p.m., September 30, hosted by First City Bank.

The NHS Digital Design 3 and 4 students who are participating are Rachel Larson, Catherine Crump, Jayden Wright, Kayla Fulghum, Remington Sallee, Jonathan Beals, Ashley Nix, Josie Jacks, Kayla Koger and Jordyn Riley.

Be sure to stop in First City Bank’s main office located at 135 Perry Ave SE, Fort Walton Beach to vote for your favorite through the 30th of September.
