Meigs MS Students Win PSA Contest for 2014 Celebrate Literacy Week, Florida

The students from Meigs Middle School’s Wildcat Information Network (WWIN) recently won first place in the statewide public service announcement contest for 2014 Celebrate Literacy Week, Florida.

The students traveled to the Kennedy Space Center in January where they received their award and $1,000 from Florida’s First Lady, Ann Scott.

One of the team members, Bethany Tisza said they were really surprised to learn they had won.

Using the theme, “Reading Accelerates Your Success,” the group decided to base their video around building a rocket after reading a book.  It took them approximately two weeks to film the 26-second video.

“The students are still on cloud nine from their win, but because six of the seven will be at Meigs next year, they are already looking ahead,” said Pam Tisza, who oversees the students in WWIN.
