Gwen Morris Named Principal of Edwins Fine and Performing Arts School

Gwen Morris was named Principal of Edwins Fine and Performing Arts School in Fort Walton Beach, Florida at the September 26th Okaloosa County School Board Meeting.  Morris started her career in 1993 at Cherokee Elementary School teaching 3rd grade.   She moved to Edwins in 1999 and taught 2nd and 4th grade before leaving the classroom to work with students served by Title One.  Gwen continued to work in various positions at Edwins through the years until becoming the Assistant Principal.

Morris graduated from Columbus State University and the University of West Florida with a Specialist in Educational Leadership.  She was named Teacher of the Year in 2011.  She has served on and chaired a number of committees throughout her career.  She has coordinated the Backpack Weekend Meals and is the school liaison working closely with the coordinator of the Northwest Florida Big Brothers Big Sisters program.

Gwen is at home at Edwins having attended the school in the early 60’s only to return many years later.  It is her desire to serve the teachers, students, and parents by continuing to build relationships meeting them where they are.  She credits her parents for always believing in her and encouraging all of her dreams….work hard and dream big!
