Gabe Tironi, Destin Middle School, Wins Okaloosa County District Spelling Bee

Gabe Tironi (pictured above in the middle), a 7th grade student at Destin Middle School, became the Okaloosa County District Spelling Bee Champion by correctly spelling the word “etymology” during the 3rd annual Okaloosa District Spelling Bee held at Niceville High School on December 10, 2015.

Participating elementary and middle schools hosted school spelling bees in the late Fall.  The school champion and runner-up were eligible to compete in the District Spelling Bee.

As the winner of the District Spelling Bee, Tironi will represent Okaloosa County in the Big Bend Regional Spelling Bee which will be held February 20th, 2016 in Tallahassee, Florida.

Quinterra Nichols, an 8th grader from Bruner Middle School, was the runner-up; while Gianna Tironi, a 6th grader at Destin Middle School, placed third in the competition.

This is the second year Gabe Tironi has advanced to the Big Bend Spelling Bee.
