ECET2 Comes to Okaloosa County

On June 13, more than 140 teachers from throughout the district joined in celebrating the teaching profession while enjoying a day designed to honor them at the Okaloosa County’s first Elevating and Celebrating Effective Teaching and Teachers Conference.

Elevating and Celebrating Effective Teaching and Teachers or ECET2 is a nation-wide initiative sponsored by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.  It is designed, led, and facilitated by teachers for teachers.  The purpose of the ECET2 convening is to inspire and support teacher leaders, provide opportunities for connecting and collaborating with colleagues, and to share ideas and resources for enhanced classroom instruction.

The conference was held at Northwest Florida State College and included activities and breakout sessions focusing on curriculum and leadership topics.  Invited teachers were treated to breakfast, a formal luncheon and an inspiring keynote address by retired Colonel Marion Oelke.
