Eagle Ram Tennis Center Breaks Ground

Ruckel Middle School and Niceville High School both have a long history of tennis excellence and now they will also have their own tennis courts.

Several years ago, Dr. Debra Collins Goolsby, former Ruckel Middle School Principal, and Marcus Chambers, former Niceville High School Principal, signed a usage agreement for a joint tennis facility to be built on Ruckel’s property on Partin Drive across from City Hall.

On Thursday, that dream came one step closer to becoming a reality when school faculty, administrators, and board members; community dignitaries and supporters; and students came together to celebrate the Eagle Ram Tennis Center’s ground breaking.

The estimated cost of the 8-court project is $220,000 with an additional $90,000 for lighting in a second phase.  A restroom and concessions will be shared with the adjacent softball field. Once built, the Eagle Ram Tennis Center will have a huge impact on the students’ access to practice after school.

A list of current supporters can be found on www.eagleramtennis.com.  Tax deductible donations of $1,000 or more will also be recognized on the "Founding Sponsors" wall at the new tennis center.
