Critical Thinking Students At DMS Impacting Community

Students in Destin Middle School’s Critical Thinking class recently researched issues in the local community and the area nonprofits who are making a difference.  They met with organization leaders to find out about how each nonprofits works.  Then they planned and successfully executed school wide fundraisers to benefit those nonprofits.

This fall they raised $600 for Shelter House and Sharing & Caring.  In February alone, they raised another $400 for Children in Crisis and Fresh Start for Children & Families.  One more fundraiser is planned for later this spring.

“These 20 students are our future community leaders in the making!” said Angela Barry, the Critical Thinking teacher at Destin Middle School.
