Cram the Van Provides Needed School Supplies To Local Students

Over three steamy Saturdays, thirteen schools participated in the United Way Cram the Van School Supply Drive, collecting over a ton of donations this year.

Volunteers greeted customers and handed out lists of suggested school supplies at Sun Plaza Publix in Fort Walton Beach, and at Fort Walton Beach and Crestview Wal-Mart Stores.

By the end of the campaign, over 2,052 pounds of pencils, crayons, paper, notebooks, backpacks, and other school supplies had been collected.

In addition, Crestview Wal-Mart had their own “Stuff the Bus” school supply drive during tax free week-end and collected many additional boxes of supplies for north county schools.

“We are grateful to United Way, the host stores, and our generous community for making this event a success,” said Kaye McKinley, Okaloosa County Schools Deputy Superintendent.
