Choice HS and Technical Center Students Win Celebrate Literacy Week Florida PSA Contest

The Okaloosa County School Board recognized Choice High School and Technical Center instructor Ivan McMillian, and his students, Dakota Bond and Deondre Cantrell at the February 23, 2015 School Board meeting for winning the Celebrate Literacy Week Florida PSA Contest.

McMillian along with Bond and Cantrell, were awarded first place in the State for the High School category of the Celebrate Literacy Week.  Together they created a video called “I Can Be.”  Click here to watch the video: http://youtu.be/l2VB5YAjPm8

The video portrays what a student can become along with his ability and motivation of reading.  McMillian’s program will be the recipient of $1,000 from the State of Florida.  These funds will be used to help motivate and enhance students in reading and literacy. 

Two of the district’s other Digital Cinema programs placed as well: Niceville High School placed third in the High School division and Baker Middle School, placed third in the Middle School division.
