Choctaw HS Students Learn About Life As A First Responder

Students in the Jobs for Florida Graduates (JFG) program at Choctawhatchee High School walked as a group to the Ocean City-Wright Fire Control District down the street from the school on Friday, September 11, to learn about life as a first responder and to personally thank the firefighters for their service.

Several of the firefighters shared their experiences of going to New York City on 9/11/01 to assist with recovery efforts there.  After hearing the stories, learning about the daily operations of the fire station, and touring the facilities, the students and firefighters shared lunch.

The students collected donations the week before at school to earn enough money to treat the firefighters to Firehouse subs.
