Choctaw HS Boys Weightlifting Team Recognized for Winning FHSAA State 2A Championship

The Choctawhatchee High School Boys Weightlifting Team was recognized at the May 22 School Board meeting for winning the 2016-2017 FHSAA State 2A Weightlifting Championship held in DeLand, Florida April 13th and 14th.  The team won the overall championship with 29 points.

Several athletes also won or placed in the top 2 in their individual divisions:

Graylon Johnson won the State Championship in the 238 pound division with a bench press of 465 pounds and a clean/ jerk of 360 for a total of 825.

Justin Scott won the State Championship in the 154 pound division with a bench press of and a clean/jerk of 310 for a total of 670. (Justin was unable to attend the School Board meeting.)

Marco Bain placed second in the 238 pound division with a bench press of 330 and clean/jerk of 330 for a total of 660, Aaron Ojeda placed second in the 119 pound division with a bench press of 225 and a clean/jerk of 205 for a total of 430, and Jason Godfrey place second in the Heavyweight division with a bench press of 450 and a clean/jerk of 310 for a total of 760.

Other members of the Boys Weightlifting team include Michael Emigh, Danny Higginson, Zakk Childers, Jean Bernier, Dewaun Ware, David Jay, and Lee Broaddus.
