Bruner MS Beta Club Shines at Convention

Max Bruner Middle School recently attended Florida’s Beta Club Convention in Orlando, Florida, and received many accolades and awards.  All of the students who attended the convention had to participate in at least one event. 

The students received the following awards:

2nd Place – Songfest:  Students performed a rendition of “I Love Rock and Roll” by Joan Jett using the Beta theme – Beta’s are Rockin’ the Country.  All of the students participated in this activity.

2nd Place – Arts and Crafts Sweepstakes: This was presented for the most overall ribbons won in the Arts and Crafts category.

3rd Place – Special Talent:  An original dance was performed by Lily Rigby, Lyndsey LaBorde, and Erin Winstead about anti-bullying.

3rd Place –Tower of Power:  Four students (Esmeraldo Yumul, Daquis Upshaw, Daria Williams, and Hijah Smith) were given fifteen minutes to build the tallest tower that could support a tennis ball.  The students were given 200 straws, masking tape, and a pair of scissors. 

3rd Place – Science Competition: This competition involved a student (Morgan Chapman) taking a test covering various facets of science.

The Beta team also received ribbons in the following categories:

1st Place – Jewelry: Hand-crafted jewelry was created by Amber Lett.

2nd Place – Wreath:  A wreath following the theme of convention was crafted by Madison Carlstrom.

2nd Place – Digital Photography: Samira Chaudhry presented an original photography piece.

2nd Place – Water Color:  Megan Schram submitted an original water color painting.

3rd Place - Quilting:  A hand-made quilt made by Heather Metruck was judged in this category.

3rd Place – Oils and Acrylics: Hunter Dahlberg submitted an original painting.

3rd Place - Cross-stitch: Brooke Sanders submitted an original cross-stitch piece.

5th Place – Tee Shirt Design:  Students were asked to design a tee shirt that followed this year’s theme.   The tee shirt, designed by Hailey Duke, was to be worn by our Betas on the first day of convention.
