Graduation Requirements

For the Class of 2020, receiving the State of Florida high school diploma is contingent upon the student meeting the required grade point average of 2.0 or higher and earning all of the required graduation credits.  After grades are posted to the computer, school counselors will be contacting those seniors who are below a 2.0 or are lacking credits.  Seniors will have an opportunity to recover in summer school (which will be offered online beginning in June).

Please know that members of the Class of 2020 may participate in the graduation celebrations if they are below a 2.0 or lacking credits.  They will need to recover in these areas to receive their diploma.

Yearbook Information
Contact:  S. Thetford (

As you may have imagined, the final printing and delivery of this year’s yearbook has been delayed.  Many schools, including FWBHS, had to complete their yearbooks online and submit them much later than usual.  In addition, the precautions required at the factory end (sanitizing work spaces, social distancing, etc.) during what is already their busiest season of the year has compounded the delay.  We do not yet have a firm delivery date for the 2019-2020 yearbook, but at the earliest, it will be in July.

As soon as there is a firm delivery date for the books, a plan will be created for pickup and/or delivery, and it will be advertised through this newsletter, our Facebook page and website, as well as social media outlets.

Meanwhile, there are still have a few books available for pre-order. We asked Jostens to reactivate the link for online purchase for an extra week or two:  If you have any difficulty with the online link, you can still mail a check to the school for $95. Make the check out to FWBHS, and put “yearbook” in the memo line. On the outside of the envelope, write “Attention Mrs. Oldenburg.”  The bookkeeper will be able to deposit it into the yearbook account and notify the yearbook staff of the sale.  We expect to be sold out soon.

UWF has extended their application and confirmation deadlines. The new deadline to submit applications for admissions consideration is July 1, 2020. The new deadline for students to confirm their intent to enroll is July 30, 2020.

This year, New Student Orientation has been converted to an all virtual experience for the safety of our students. New Student Orientation is required for all new incoming students.  The orientation fee has been reduced from $250 to $50.  If a student registered prior to the price reduction, UWF will issue a refund for the amount in excess of $50.  Additionally, Pell-eligible students will not be required to pay an orientation fee, the experience will be offered to them at no cost.

All Summer 2020 courses will be conducted online.  At this time, we still anticipate Fall 2020 courses to be held face-to-face.

Undergraduate Admissions will be hosting a virtual Q&A in the upcoming weeks. Invitations will be sent once the details have been finalized.

The UWF Virtual Tour is open and available to all students interested in checking out our campus.  Additionally, there is an Appointment Calendar should any students like to meet via Google Hangouts.  You can find the appointment calendar by clicking here.
